Today we did another tour through Viator. We did a day trip from Brussels to Bruges. It was an all-day trip that started at 8:30 AM and included the bus ride and guided walking tour. We were to meet the guide outside Brussels Central Station. Problem was there was a number of guides outside Brussels Central Station and not very clear which one was the English-speaking group guide. The first line we got in was not the English group but, at least they pointed out the correct guide. We then had to walk to the bus and then it was a 1 1/2-hour ride to Bargeplein where we had 10 minutes to use the restroom before the walking tour began. Our first stop was Minnewater Lake "Lake of Love". The next stop was Begijnhof, which was founded in 1245, it was a safe haven for women in that era to stay. We then went to the beautiful square, Walplein, and learned the history of Bruges beer. We then went and saw other sites in Bruges and then went and had a sample of chocolate before we had free time on our own. We had about 4 hours of free time before catching the bus back to Brussels. We went and had lunch at a Mediterranean hole in the wall restaurant. The Gyro was different than any that I have ever had, the beef was fried like hamburger you would have for ground beef tacos, and they had raw onions, french fries, with ketchup and tzatziki sauce. It was ok but, I wouldn't get it again. Rest of the time we wandered around the town and hung out in a little park and people watched. It looked like they were preparing for some kind of festival for the weekend there was a large mental spider and there was someone practicing on a tightrope high above the town. At the end of 4 hours, we meet at the spot where we were dropped off. The bus had the English-speaking group and the Spanish speaking group. The guide of the Spanish group mentioned to them to keep their seats but, the English-speaking guide did not tell the English-speaking group to keep their seats for the ride back to Brussles. There was some seat swapping with a couple of English-speaking people which did not go well with the Spanish speaking people that originally sat in that seat and both parties started arguing about it. Thought a fight was going to break out. In the end the Spanish speaking couple moved to empty seats near the back of the bus. Hopefully the English-speaking guide learned from this and next time she will include the assigned seats message.
