After waking up and checking out of the hotel we caught an Uber and headed to the train station. We decided to take the train from Brussels to London instead of flying. We bought the tickets ahead of time from home and chose to upgrade to Eurostar Plus, which included 2 pieces of luggage, 1 small hand luggage, a light meal and drinks, and free onboard wi-fi. It was a little confusing for first timers the board that tells you which area to go to for the ticket checks, security and passport control doesn't show up until 1 hour before the train arrives. We were early and had to ask an employee that told us which gate to go to. After going through ticket check and security we didn't have to wait very long until they let everyone go down to the platform and board the train. The ride was a little over 2 hours, and it went pretty quick. When we exited the train, it was a short walk through the train station and we were outside. To find an Uber we had to walk a couple blocks to a hotel and then go on app to request a car. My husband ordered the normal size of vehicle that we request for 2 people, 3 pieces of luggage and 2 back packs. The first driver showed up in a medium size car looked at our luggage and drove away without saying anything. The second drive came in a minivan and was able to take us. We decided to stay at the Residence Inn London Tower Bridge because they had a laundry room. The room consisted of a bedroom, bathroom, living area, and a small kitchen. It was an okay hotel nothing special and it included free breakfast. Next time I would look for a hotel in another area of London and hopefully we won't need laundry. The driver couldn't go right to our hotel because there was a street fair going on and the street was closed so, he let us out a block away and we walked. After checking in and going to our room we had about an hour before we needed to head out to the soccer game West Ham United FC versus Crystal Palace FC. We bought tickets from home on StubHub and decided that it will probably be the only time were going to a professional soccer game in London, so we upgraded to the VIP package. The closest train/tube was about 15 minutes away, the London Bridge Station. We are not familiar with how the train/tube works but on the Maps app on our phones it gave us step by step directions on where to go and what trains to take. By the second day we had figured it out and taking the train/tube was very convenient. Only issue was that it is very crowded so if your claustrophobic or germophobic you will probably want to take a taxi instead. After getting off the train/tube it was about a 20-minute walk to the entrance to the stadium. Once inside the VIP area you were able to get something to drink with a drink coupon. A soda or beer and food was extra. It was very busy and no open seats, so we went straight to our assigned seats out in the arena. The game started shortly after we were sitting on the home teams side the West Ham United. The away team the Crystal Palace was a small section for their fans but, they cheered louder than the fans from the home team. I have never been to an American football game so, not sure if the fans get as emotional or verbal as the Europeans do with soccer. There was a lot of swearing at the referees and one man even stormed out and never returned. The visiting team won, and we decided to sneak out a few minutes early to use the restrooms and get an early start on heading out of the stadium. Before catching the train/tube we decided to have dinner and seeing that it was a Saturday and not having dinner reservations we were lucky to find an Italian restaurant that had a table for 2 available. After dinner we took the train/tube back to our station and went straight back to hotel and went to sleep it was a very busy day.
