Portugal to Brussels

We booked an Uber the day before because we wanted an early pick up to head to the airport in Faro, which was 1 hour and 10 minutes away.

The airport in Faro you don't find out where you drop off checked luggage until 2 hours before your flight so, if you are early you need to wait until your designated counter location shows up on the large information screens in the terminal. Because we were flying to Belgium, a Schengen country, and not to the United States, a non-Schengen country we didn't need to go passport control. We grabbed sandwiches at Paul's, a chain of French bakeries in Portugal. Sitting was limited in the terminal and the waiting area before boarding was closed. When it opened, we had to wait in a line and had our passport checked again and if you needed to use the bathroom it was one bathroom for men and one for women so, the line was long and slow. By the time I got out of the bathroom we were already boarding the plane.

The flight between Faro and Brussels takes 2 hours and 50 minutes. We flew with Brussels airlines, nothing special. We brought on our own drinks, and we had eaten lunch right before the flight. On short-haul flights in economy class snacks and drinks cost money.

We landed in Brussels on time and grabbed our luggage and went to find where the Uber driver would pick us up at. The directions weren't very clear we went to the wrong floor at the parking garage. After contacting the driver, we found the correct parking garage floor, and we were on our way to the hotel.

We stayed in the heart of Brussels at Hotel Amigo, steps from La Grand Place and Manneken Pis Statue. This luxury hotel during the Christmas holiday's is a 1/2 mile from the Christmas Market and 0.7 miles from the Royal Palace of Brussels. We stayed 3 nights, and it was in the perfect location for the excursions that we did and close to restaurants and shopping.
