After our Adventures by Disney trip ended we went to Salema for 3 nights. We stayed at a boutique hotel, The Villamar, overlooking the beach. It was 3 stories tall but only had 10 rooms. The rooms had a small kitchenette with a table and 2 chairs for dining, the living/sleeping area with a bed, couch, and desk with chair and a bathroom with a shower. The first floor was part of a restaurant and a very small lobby area for the hotel. The second and third floor each had 5 rooms. The village is small with a limited number of restaurants. There isn't a grocery store in the village just a small market with the basic essentials. The nearest grocery store is in Budens, a 6-minute drive from the hotel.
The weather was in the 80s while we were there. Staying at the Villamar you have access to the beach and the chairs and umbrella in front of the hotel. On the morning of the second day, we used them for about two hours and then it was too hot, and we went back to the air-conditioned room. We found out the best time to walk the beach was in the morning or evening when the weather was in the 70s.
Found a little eatery by the hotel that served breakfast of acai bowls, waffles, and fresh fruit and yogurt. We ate there 2 mornings, for lunch the first day we ate at the restaurant that was part of the hotel, and the second day a small place by the market. For dinner we ate at an Italian restaurant the first night, the second night we just had leftover pizza from the Italian restaurant, and the third night went to another Italian restaurant in the next town. We ate at a fair number of Italian restaurants while in Portugal.
